Lemons and sardines are a match made in heaven. A fresh squeeze can really brighten up a fish. But what happens when the lemon is packed in the tin? Do we get a mild whiff, or do we get a tangy zing? Try this tin to find out:
La Barca Sardines with Lemon are packed with a citrus punch! There are about four huge, shiny ‘deens packed in a tasty olive oil with a tiny lemon wedge. You’ll get a big whiff of fishy air when you crack this tin and an even bigger lemony sensation when you taste it. I’ve never tried a tin with such prominent lemon flavor — so much that it’s almost hard to eat them alone! Compared to Matiz, which has more of a lemon essence, this tin tastes remarkably fruity and fresh. These sardines have a gorgeous luster and are begging to be the star of a dish.
This pretty fish is perfect for a pasta recipe. Go for something creamy like Pasta al Limone, with some heavy cream, butter, and parmesan. Or, use the olive oil from the can to make a fresh pesto to toss with your pasta and chunked sardines. As I said before, the lemon flavor in this can is pretty strong - you can cut the amount of fresh lemon you use in any recipe, as this fish will more than make up for it.
You can find this fruity fish on La Barca’s website, or at your (and my) favorite online retailer, Rainbow Tomatoes Garden. Toss ‘em with your next batch of spaghetti and let us know what you think!
