Fishwife’s Sardines with Hot Pepper is a very pretty tin with a pretty good flavor. There are about five very tightly packed, plump sardines in the tin along with olive oil, a tiny piri-piri pepper, and some salt. These sardines are beautiful, with their shiny skin and (slightly gritty) bones left in. The pepper packs no punch here — this tin isn’t spicy at all, but the fish is delicious and high-quality.
This tin is a nibbler — take a bite or two, munch on something else, come back to the fish, try another thing, and so on. It’s perfect for your next tinned fish date night. Give it a boost by topping it with flaky salt like Maldon (or for fun, Maldon’s smoky variety) and you’ll be sure to have a delicious dinner. Alternatively, per usual, this tin goes well with a pair of chopsticks and some alone time.
Does this tin live up to its name? Not really, but it’s still a delicious and well-packed tin. You can find it on the shelves of your local Whole Foods, or online at Fishwife’s website via our link — which gives you a tasty 10% off your order with the code TINNED10.
